Who We Are

Sr. Mary Ann Spangler, a Sister of the Humility of Mary, brings decades of educational, retreat and spiritual direction experience. She obtained a Masters Degree at Kent State University and a spiritual direction certification from the Ignatian Spirituality Institute at John Carroll University. She has served as Vocation Minister for the Sisters of the Humility of Mary and also as co- director of the HM Associate Community. She directs retreats at the Jesuit Retreat Center and on some college campuses. She companions adults as well as young adults focusing on prayer, relationships, discernment and transitions in life. In between times, she enjoys nature, cooking and baking as part of her own version of “meals on wheels,” and spending time catching up with family and friends.

Sister Jeanne Thurin is a Sister of the Humility of Mary who companions young adults as well as adults on their spiritual journeys. She has extensive experience teaching elementary age children and adults, especially in the areas of environmental education and science. She holds degrees in Education, Religious Education and a certificate in Environmental Education. She is working on certification as a Spiritual Companion/Director. In her free time Sister Jeanne enjoys cooking, baking, mime, making animal balloons as JOT the Clown and serving as secretary for several committees of the Alliance to End Human Trafficking.
