Look out: you might encounter Jesus
in one of his ”distressing disguises,”*
maybe someone on the street
or even in a familiar environment.
Holy Spirit of piercing insight,
enable me to see through any disguise
in which Jesus might appear.
May the eyes of my heart
penetrate any off-putting manner
or appearances.
May I embrace the hidden you
as you embrace me unconditionally.
