Woody, spicy, bitter, nutty . .
the smell or taste of roots of trees
to a scientist examining them.*
There’s so much more to the world
beneath our feet – and above our heads –
than we imagine. Thank heaven.
Imaginative Creator,
help us appreciate
all facets of our created world
and their interconnectedness.
Let us also humbly acknowledge
our interconnectedness
with every human person.
Let us expect to give and receive
assistance from one another.
Deep down we all share
a sense of the sacred.
Let us rejoice in all that implies.
Expect some experience
of mutuality today
and even the miraculous.
Amen.
