As gardens are wrapping up
their summer season,
we might consider
Mary of Magdalen’s encounter
with the Risen Christ in the Garden.
Risen Christ,
you chose to reveal yourself risen from the dead
to Mary of Magdala
recognizing her love and fidelity
and faithful presence
accompanying and supporting you
in your preaching and even
to your death on the Cross and burial.
You gave her the role
of being an Apostle to the Apostles.
Enflame our hearts with desire
to spread the good news of hope
and renewed life.
Amen.
