It is hard to face the truth
when the truth is uncomfortable
or when the truth contains
an honest admission about one’s failings
or when you think the hearers
don’t want to hear “that particular truth.”
No wonder it is said, “Humility is truth.”
Jesus, you have said
that the truth will make us free.*
May your Holy Spirit help us discern
the truth in our relationships
and in the public arena.
Let us be humble enough
to grapple with hard truths.
Help us find our truth in you.
Amen.
