Are you looking for the child whose eyes are mild, 

Whose hands are those of a king?

OR

are you looking for the child . . . 

Whose hands are those of the poor?

In Menotti’s opera Amahl and the Night Visitors,

one of the Magi describes the Child King in both ways.

Let us look for Christ today and see him

with any color hair or eyes,

in any state of wealth or poverty,

with hands reaching to anyone in any need;

to anyone ignored or abandoned by society.
